|
Welcome McNair
Scholars |
|
You are invited to apply for one of UT Arlington’s
College of Engineering McNair Graduate Assistance Packages now setup for
entering students.
Stipends
Fellowship awards will be
made for $1,000 per year to
be disbursed as $500 in each
of two semesters for
master’s students and $2,000
per year to be disbursed as
$1000 in each of two
semesters for doctoral
students. Students are required to be enrolled and complete a minimum of six hours in each of the Fall and Spring semesters. Recipients will have their tuition reduced to in-state rates.
Eligibility
McNair Graduate Doctoral Fellowships are intended for newly admitted students who intend to pursue a doctoral degree at
The University of Texas at Arlington. Nominees must have completed a McNair Scholars Program during their undergraduate studies. Additional eligibility requirements include an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25 plus a 3.25 GPA in any graduate credit hours completed. Programs may add additional selection criteria. The fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis. The award of McNair Graduate Doctoral Fellowship does not preclude other financial aid.
Nominations
The Graduate Advisor of the
degree program for the
student nominates the
student using the Graduate
School nomination form. The
form will be submitted to
the appropriate scholarship
committee who chooses the
nominees and endorses the
forms. The scholarship
committee sends the endorsed
forms for the nominees to
the Dean of Graduate Studies
for final approval. Students
are encouraged to discuss
the nomination procedure
with the graduate advisor in
their department.
Renewal
A McNair Doctoral Fellowship may be renewed after the first year for up to three additional years for students who continue to meet all eligibility requirements
each term (semester). Students who change majors will not be renewed in the semester following the change of major.
Deadline
While award decisions will be made on a continuing basis,
a April 15 deadline for
fall is encouraged. Consequently, nominations should be forwarded to the Office
of Graduate Studies as soon as possible.
