Careers Class (BUSA 5338)

 The Careers Class is designed to help graduate students in all disciplines:

  • Measure their career assets and preferences.
  • Evaluate their career options and prepare a plan on how to advance their career.
  • Learn of available UTA career services and how to use them.
  • Develop critical skills for succeeding in the immerging work environments.
  • Assist in the development of broad leadership capabilities.

The specific tasks accomplished in this class include:

  • Complete an extensive self-assessment module to measure your personal profile.
  • Explore the alternative cultures available in your career field and learn how to analyze them.
  • Select a career environment that is compatible with your personal profile.
  • Learn important mentoring and networking skills.
  • Learn how to research companies and industries for career concerns.
  • Evaluate options and plan for life goals.
  • Prepare for the intense work environment of the future by:
    • Understanding the value of diversity in a global environment
    • Learning important leadership and teamwork skills
    • Developing a plan to manage stress and time
    • Learning how to manage technology and change
